League City Texas (77573) is south of Clear Lake (with some portions on Clear Lake and Clear Creek itself) original settled in 1873 by George W. Butler as the city of Clear Creek. It was later renamed to League City in honor of John C. League and is now home to approximately 90,000 residents.
Situated exactly between downtown Houston and Galveston over 53 square miles, League City is one of the largest and fastest growing cities in the area but has plenty of room for growth and thus boasts the majority of new construction in the area. It also benefits from its proximity to downtown Houston and the beaches and attractions of Galveston Island. It’s downtown area is known for it’s park and historic quaint shops. Many residents enjoy boating and outdoor activities in League City’s many parks, most on Clear Creek. At state road 646 and I-45, League City is growing a large shopping area second only to the Baybrook mall area of Webster. The city also boasts the its historic league city and shopping district with huge oak trees and the celebrated 1898 restored West Bay Common School (along with several historic landmark homes). League City hosts numerous community events throughout the year including Holiday Magic, the annual Oak Tree Festival, Texas Music Festival, and the Village Fair and Bay Area Bluegrass Festival.
League City residents can take advantage of the numerous communities, many along Clear Creek itself, that are established, brand-new, master-planned or both.
